Surfing In Peru

Over recent years surf culture in Peru has exploded and its popularity is still growing. On the world stage Peruvian surfers are getting more and more media exposure with names such as Gabriel Villarán, Sofia Mulanovich, and Cristobal de Col gaining recognition across the globe.

Peru is also increasingly popular as a surf destination. Home to Chicama, the worlds longest left-hand wave, Peru has a series of other breaks offering a wide variety of world-class waves along with hundreds of hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

Swell

There is swell all year round in Peru and it stays pretty consistent and if one spot is flat, with a bit of travel you will always be able to find waves elsewhere. From October to November the conditions are the best if your are searching for barrels!

Wetsuits

A 3/2 fullsuit is recommended all year round. (4/3 if you feel the cold). Far north you can surf in boardshorts pretty much all year round.
